ABOUT THE BAND
Established for over 120 years, the Band of the Hampshire Constabulary is based at the Police Training Headquarters at Netley, Southampton. Its members are drawn from serving and retired staff of the Force, both police, support and from family members of the same.
The band also welcomes players from outside the Force family where additional instrumentation is needed.

All the band members are volunteers and the band largely operates within its own resources. It is a wind concert band consisting of woodwind, brass and percussion players. Its wide repertoire ranges over marches and overtures through classical pieces to selections from popular shows. Concert organisers throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight book this accomplished band for their events and many thousands of pounds have been raised for charity over the years.
In 1999 the Band supported a large Scottish Tattoo at the Royal Albert Hall in London and received much acclaim. Many good friends and contacts have been established in the Channel Islands, Europe and the United States of America; particular friendships have been cemented with Portsmouth in Virginia and with the Hague Region Royal Police Band in Holland with several exchange visits taking place.
In 2000 the band played in Virginia, USA during the Tall Ships Festival - the focus of much attention as the impressive fleet moved on to New York and the end of their voyage. The Band returned for a further visit in 2002 and performed at 3 different locations. In 2003 we were invited to Holland to join in the Centenary celebrations for the Police Band in The Hague.
Hampshire Police Band 2008
The band is renowned for its community concerts in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and its reputation has been enhanced by foreign concert tours. In 2006 and 2008 the band visited Malta and performed with the island's police band and gave a number of concerts. In 2010 the band crossed the Atlantic as the guests of the Royal St Lucian Police Band, and in 2011 they returned again to Malta by popular demand.

Concert Band
The Band of the Hampshire Constabulary's Concert Band is an entertaining symphonic wind band covering many genres of music from the original wind music to stage, show and pop tunes. The Band performs a balanced and interesting programme tailored to the client’s requirements. The band performs at several concert venues throughout the year and is available for public hire in both commercial and charity work. The concert band comprises of woodwind, brass and percussion sections.

Saxophone Ensemble
The Band of the Hampshire Constabulary's Saxophone Ensemble provides music for any occasion, be it background music for a dinner or a few numbers in a concert.
They perform a wide variety of music, from Bach to Joplin, Glenn Miller to the Beatles, to TV and Film themes.
If you wish for your event to have a sing-a-long the ensemble will provide songsheets and lead everyone in classics such as "Tipperary, Pack up Your Troubles, There'll Always Be An England, White Cliffs Of Dover, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia, and many, many more".

Brass Ensemble
The Band of the Hampshire Constabulary's Brass Ensemble can appear as a Quartet or a Quintet.
They perform a wide variety of music, from classical to ragtime, Glenn Miller to pops, to TV themes.
The Brass Ensemble is ideal for providing background music for dinners, corporate functions and weddings. If you wish for your event to have a sing-a-long the ensemble will provide songsheets and lead everyone in classics such as "Tipperary, Pack up Your Troubles, There'll Always Be An England, White Cliffs Of Dover, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia, and many, many more."
